Connecting SEO and AEO with insurance enquiries

Connecting SEO and AEO with insurance enquiries

Project snapshot

This insurance engagement combined SEO with answer engine optimisation (AEO) to help potential customers find the business through search and AI-generated answers. During September–October 2026, the work included search foundations, practical educational content, contractor-focused AI visibility research and planning for more detailed service pages.

The programme brought together customer education, search discovery and enquiry review. Articles addressed practical coverage questions, while the service-page plan identified where visitors needed more detailed information. Lead qualification remained a separate part of the assessment, connecting website activity with the client’s feedback on the enquiries received.

The starting point

The business served personal and commercial insurance needs, with a particular content opportunity around contractor and business cover. A visitor might begin with a service search, or with a question about a policy limit, a business risk or whether existing cover was sufficient.

The website already had service pages. The September review identified a need for more depth within that coverage, and the team discussed mapping individual services to relevant search terms. The objective was to make important insurance topics easier to understand and give each service a more useful search entry point.

1. Establish the foundations for SEO and AEO

By September 9, the team had completed keyword research, Search Console and GA4 setup, content updates, page titles and descriptions, FAQs, and Local Business and FAQ schema markup. Blog publishing, indexing and search monitoring continued beyond that checkpoint.

The content and FAQs provided space to answer customer questions directly. Local Business and FAQ schema added structured context to the website’s information, while titles and descriptions supported conventional search presentation. Together, these were documented parts of the search and answer-focused foundation work.

The AEO intention was to make the business and its services clearer within material that answer engines may use. Measurement setup ran alongside those improvements, supporting continued review of search performance and website activity. Schema was one implementation element within the wider content programme, rather than a promised route to an AI recommendation.

2. Build educational coverage around practical questions

The content programme included topics such as commercial vehicle policy limits, the costs associated with a cyber incident and general business liability. These are specific questions that can lead a reader toward a conversation about the type and scope of insurance they need.

The team shared article links in mid-September and recorded further blog delivery later in the month. The monthly search review then identified home-insurance topics as another area for continued attention.

This gave the programme two related lines of work: educational articles addressing a practical concern, and service information that explains the business’s relevant offering. The case describes the content work; it does not make a claim that a particular article alone produced a lead.

3. Turn the review into a service-page plan

The team reviewed separate competitor groups for commercial and personal insurance, with the commercial group identified as the more relevant reference for contractor-focused AI visibility work. That exercise informed discussion about the pages and URL structure needed for more detailed coverage.

By September 29, an inner-page mapping and SEO metadata document had been shared. The accompanying discussion clarified the intended change: add depth to the existing service coverage and map individual coverage topics to their relevant search terms.

The rollout was explicitly staged. Drafts were to be prepared before the pages went live, with a staging version shared for client review. The mapping was a completed planning deliverable, with an agreed review process for the next stage. Publication of every proposed service page has not been established for this case.

Visibility progress and enquiry quality

The September report included a ChatGPT brand-presence example for a business-insurance question. Alongside answer-led content, FAQs and schema, contractor-focused research and the service-page plan, this gave the programme a specific AI-discovery observation to build on. Across these engagements, our team has seen increased ChatGPT visibility and leads through AI discovery.

The separate lead-quality checkpoint was one owner-confirmed qualified lead within a Lead Center holding 17 tracked records as of October 8, 2026. The remaining records awaited the client’s qualification feedback. This is a snapshot of recorded activity and qualification; the available records do not identify that qualified lead, or all 17 records, as ChatGPT-sourced.

Measurement and next focus

Search impressions show where the business is appearing; website activity describes another part of the journey; client qualification establishes whether an enquiry meets the business’s criteria. These measures need distinct definitions and reporting periods. The available evidence is not sufficient for a reconciled before-and-after traffic or revenue uplift claim.

The next phase is to develop the service-page plan through its review process, strengthen the priority educational topics and incorporate the outstanding qualification feedback. That connects the content programme to a more useful business question: which search journeys are bringing the right people to the right service information and, ultimately, to a qualified conversation?

Frequently asked questions

Keyword research, measurement setup, content updates, titles and descriptions, FAQs, Local Business and FAQ schema, and continued educational publishing. AI-focused competitor research and service-page mapping also informed the programme.

The service-page mapping was completed and a draft/staging review process agreed. Publication of every proposed page has not been established.

Acquisition source and lead quality are checked separately. Website activity is reviewed alongside source information and client qualification feedback to identify relevant enquiries.

Develop the service-page plan through review, strengthen priority educational topics and incorporate outstanding enquiry-qualification feedback.
